Challenge Your Reading This Summer
Summer is a great time for immersing yourself in a good book so why not join Tableland Regional Council’s Summer Reading Challenge?
This free program is a fun way to keep everyone reading over the holiday period … and it’s not just for kids!
Mayor Rod Marti believes reading over summer helps kids maintain the skills they have been learning during the school year.
‘Reading stimulates kids’ imagination, expands their understanding of the world and helps them develop language skills.
‘Kids (up to 12) can join the challenge by stopping into one of our libraries to register and pick up a book log.
‘They’ll receive a small prize for every five books they read.
‘Children who see others read are more likely to read themselves, and teens and adults taking part in our challenge need to read at least five books for a chance to win a $50 gift card.
‘We just don’t mean the paper books either — audiobooks, ebooks, comics and magazines all count,’ said Mayor Marti.
Adults and teens can pick up and submit their book log in any library, or submit it online until Friday 31 January.
Not a library member? Sign up, it’s free.
