Free Age-Friendly Expo

Tablelands Regional Council’s renowned Age-Friendly Expo is on again in 2024.

‘Join us this Queensland Seniors Month for our free expo featuring community organisations, recreational clubs and presentations,’ said Youth and Inclusion Advisory Committee Chair Councillor Kylie Lang.

‘This is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the essential roles that older people play in our community.

‘Ageing affects us and our loved ones in some way and there are so many organisations out there who can support families through the ageing process.”

‘It’s fantastic to have them all in one place.

‘If you’re looking to join a club, volunteer or meet new friends you’ll be able to talk to community organisations and recreational clubs like Tablelands Libraries, U3A Atherton Tablelands, Tableland Social Dancers, Zumba Gold, Tableland Garden Group, Tableland Bridge, Atherton District Meals on Wheels, Senior Women Enjoying Later Life, Eacham Senior Citizen Association and men’s sheds.

‘Speak to people with lived experiences and support organisations like Seniors Helpers, Home Caring, Better Together Community Support Care Finder, Sunbird Aged Care Navigation and Services Australia Aged Care Specialist to help ageing family members.

‘Experts like Home Caring, Atherton Health Hub, Cairns Community Legal Centre, Atherton Community Health, Carinya Home for the Aged, Atherton Home Assist Secure, NBN Co. and ECHO Empowering Services will provide advice on how to age well, including legal and health services and providers, aged care planning and support services.
‘Don’t miss the chance to get a free health and hearing check and the complimentary expo morning tea for seniors (register at trc.qld.gov.au/expo-morning-tea).

‘I’m looking forward to seeing seniors and their families at the expo at 9am–1pm Tuesday 15 October at Merriland Hall in the Atherton Showgrounds.

  • 9.30am — Library Tech Demo
