Assistance for Malanda Show

Council collaboration with the Malanda Show Society is continuing with a one-off financial assistance of $24,841.21 to support the delivery of the 2024 Malanda Show.

‘The closing of the Patrick English Pavilion in the showgrounds has severely hampered the show society’s ability to deliver the show and we’ve been working with them to find solutions,’ said Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney.

‘We’ve been able to facilitate many of their requests including this funding to purchase equipment and stationery they cannot currently access.

‘The assistance will also cover transport and maintenance of portable toilets, hiring and transport of tower lights, and signs.

‘We’ll continue to provide support to the society up to, during and after this year’s show.

‘The show society have been extremely accommodating throughout the process in what is a very difficult situation for them.

‘We appreciate their understanding and willingness to identify and work towards solutions and wish them the best of luck with the 2024 Show.

‘We’ll be working with the community on the future for the pavilion and an update will be provided at the September ordinary meeting,’ Deputy Mayor Bilney said.
