Join the Safari
Tablelands Regional Council’s much-anticipated Food Safaris are back!
‘Our Food Safaris celebrate our region’s produce and products and are popular with locals and visitors alike,’ said Councillor Con Spanos.
‘We have such a huge range of produce — sugarcane, corn, potatoes, peanuts, garlic, avocadoes, blueberries, dragon fruit, citrus, mushrooms, raspberries, mangos, bananas, pineapples, papaya, coffee, tea, native bush fruits and so much more.
‘Beef cattle production is extensive and our dairy industry produces fresh and fermented milk, yogurts, cheeses and chocolates.
‘The best part is we can all get in on the action!
‘We hold a free monthly Food Safari in Atherton to showcase Tropical North Queensland food.
‘Not only will you get to taste fresh produce and local niche food products, we’ll also show you where you can buy it fresh from the farm, and how to prepare it.
‘Bring your visitors and guests, they’ll love it.
‘Stop in for the Food Safari at the Atherton Tablelands Information Centre in Atherton between 10am and 12noon on the second Thursday of the month through to September,’ said Councillor Spanos.
The dates are:
- Thursday 10 April
- Thursday 8 May
- Thursday 12 June
- Thursday 10 July
- Thursday 14 August
- Thursday 11 September
