New Cycling Strategy for Tablelands Region

Cycling in the Tablelands Region is set for a boost after the Tablelands Region Cycling Strategy 2024–34 was endorsed at the Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) ordinary Council meeting yesterday.

‘Cycling is growing in popularity in our region, and it’s important for the health, wellbeing, economic, tourism and social benefits of our community,’ said Cycling Advisory Committee Chair Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney.

‘This community-driven strategy encompasses mountain biking, road cycling, gravel riding, adaptive cycling and bike packing and aims to enhance participation in recreational cycling and active transport touring.

‘It has been developed with a strategic and regional approach, ensuring coordinated project execution, improved management and promotion, and maximised funding opportunities.

‘Through strategic efforts and targeted investments we can transform our region into a premier cycling destination and attract national and international cyclists.

‘I’d like to thank the Cycling Advisory Committee for their guidance, input and support in the development of the strategy,’ Deputy Mayor Bilney said.
