We are committed to ensuring we meet the needs of our ageing population. An age-friendly community ensures older people are free from age-related barriers that prevent community participation, and that they are valued, respected and actively engaged in their community.
Our Age-friendly Exercise Park (Priors Creek, at the end of Vernon Street in Atherton) was developed in consultation with local community groups, an exercise physiologist and seniors. It includes equipment that focuses on strength, flexibility, balance and mobility. It is a welcoming space — with shade, seating, water fountain and landscaped surrounds. The equipment faces inwards to promote social connections.
FNQ Health and Fitness have produced a range of exercise programs, for varying abilities, to guide you in the use of the equipment and to get the most out of the space.
We thank the Queensland Government for funding to make this project possible.
