Summary of Tuesday 9 April Post-election Meeting

Appointment of Deputy Mayor

Councillor Dave Bilney was appointed as Deputy Mayor. The role involves acting for the Mayor during periods of absence and temporary incapacity, and if the Mayoral position is vacated.

Council Meeting Dates

Ordinary Council Meetings will be held at 9am on the fourth Thursday of the month, except for the April meeting, which will held on Wednesday 24 April. The meetings will be held at the Coordination Centre, 15 Vernon Street in Atherton, and they will be live streamed and recorded.

Planning Committee Meetings

Monthly Planning Committee meetings will be discontinued. The meetings were established to expedite certain planning applications and ensure they were considered within statutory timeframes. The volume of planning applications currently being received negates the need to continue the additional meetings.

Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (FNQROC) Representative

Mayor Rod Marti will represent TRC on FNQROC. The Chief Executive Officer will appoint an elected representative if the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are unavailable.

Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Chair & Deputy Chair

Mayor Marti was appointed Chair of the LDMG, and Councillor Bilney as Deputy Chair. The LDMG manages the multi-agency planning, response and recovery activities associated with disasters.
