Water Restrictions

Level 2 water conservation measures are in place across the Tablelands region and these restrictions are in place until further notice.

Penalties can be issued for breaches under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.

Established Private Lawns & Gardens (Residential, Rural & Commercial)

Sprinklers permitted 6–8am and 6–8pm:

  • odd numbered houses — Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
  • even numbered houses — Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Hand watering with hose and trigger nozzle, watering cans and buckets any time of day.

New Private Lawns & Gardens (Residential, Rural & Commercial)

Sprinkler on a timer:

  • on the day of installation at any time for a period of one hour
  • 6–8am and 6–8pm on any day for a period of 14 days after the installation date (receipt of installation required)

After 14 days from the day of establishment, all Level 1 water restrictions apply including watering times as above.

Public Lawns & Gardens

15% reduction in irrigation

  • Automated irrigation systems permitted 10pm–5am.
  • Manual irrigation systems permitted before 10am only.
  • Hand watering with hose and trigger nozzle, watering cans and buckets any time of day.

Sporting Grounds

Non-active playing surfaces must not be watered without the written permission from TRC.
Active playing surfaces can only be watered using:

  • sprinklers, micro spray and drip systems permitted 6–8am and 6–8pm
  • watering cans or buckets filled from taps
  • hand watering with a hose and trigger nozzle.

Commercial Nurseries & Market Gardens

Hand watering with hose and trigger nozzle, watering cans and buckets at any time. All other watering must be outside the hours of 9am and 4pm by water-efficient sprinkler or irrigation system.

Vehicles & Boats

Water must not be used to clean vehicles except by:

  • commercial car washing facilities
  • watering cans or buckets filled from taps
  • hoses with trigger nozzle to rinse vehicles after washing
  • high pressure, low volume cleaners.

Boat motors may be flushed after use.

Hard Surfaces Including Paved Areas, Walls & Windows

Water must not be used to clean hard surfaces except by:

  • hose with trigger nozzle
  • high pressure, low volume cleaners
  • watering cans or buckets filled from taps.

Filling or Topping Up of Ponds, Pools, Spas, etc.

Existing water can only be topped up to normal levels using handheld hoses with a trigger nozzle, or watering cans and buckets filled directly from taps. Newly-constructed ponds, pools and spas may be filled initially and then topped up as above.

Other

Written permission required from TRC.

Water must not be used to clean vehicles except by commercial car washing facilities that recycle water. Boat motors may be flushed using recycled water only and for a maximum of 5mins.

Hard Surfaces e.g. Paved Areas, Walls & Windows

Water must not be used to clean hard surfaces unless as a result of an accident, fire, health hazard or other emergencies.

Filling & Topping Up of Ponds, Pools, Spas, etc.

Existing ponds sustaining fish or birds can be topped up to their normal levels using watering cans and buckets filled from taps. All other ponds, pools, spas must not be filled or topped up without written permission from TRC.

Other

Written permission required from TRC
