Community and Families are a huge part of our organization, as fishing forms an integral part of our region’s tourism promoting an outdoor lifestyle. There is great Community interest in TFSS introducing Mangrove Jacks to Lake Tinaroo once again. Educational fishing clinics greatly enhance the ability of recreational anglers to catch the target species and further increase their fishing experience. With greater knowledge and enjoyment comes increased fishing effort thus supporting local regional businesses through purchases of fuel, food, fishing tackle, accommodation etc. leading to a faster recovery of regional communities from COVID-19.
Community expectations that taxpayers’ funds are being invested wisely and for the benefit of the community. Through research and monitoring our fish stocking strategies will be improved with enhanced recreational angler satisfaction, and with the majority of fishermen practicing sustainable fishing ensuring everyone has the opportunity to catch a fish.
Lake Tinaroo is a stocked impoundment of local, regional, and national significance for tourism related to recreational fishing. Through our events, open days and workshops, we can attract people to participate in our Barramundi stockings, and learn about the fishery and environment, to help us raise funds for our purpose – Freshwater Stocking and monitoring of Lake Tinaroo, Queensland.
