TRAS includes a number of groups under its umbrella that participate in a range of creative activities:

• Wednesday Art Sessions – TRAS members meet each Wednesday at 9am at our rooms in the Atherton Community Centre for monthly meetings and informal workshops exploring different art media and techniques.
• Life Drawing Sessions – On the 4th Wednesday of each month at 9am, a model is available for members to practice valuable life-drawing skills.
• Thursday Painters – Artists get together at 9am each Thursday at the Atherton Community Centre, working in a variety of painting mediums and styles. Tutoring from an experienced local artist is regularly available.
• TRASInkers Group – TRAS has a well-equipped Print Room at the Atherton Community Centre, where members with an interest in printmaking can learn and experiment with different techniques.
• Craft and Sewing Groups – Members of TRAS meet at the Old Post Office Gallery Workshop Room in Atherton at 9am on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to work on individual and community textile projects in a friendly social setting.
• Children’s Art Club – The Art Club provides an opportunity for budding creatives to engage in a range of fun and exciting artistic projects under the guidance of a professional artist.
• Exhibitions – Each year TRAS holds multiple group exhibitions, giving its members the opportunity to show their work in the three local galleries run by Tablelands Regional Council.
• Workshops – TRAS occasionally organises workshops run by a professional artist, available to members at a subsidised cost.
• Outings – When there is a 5th Wednesday in the month, TRAS members get together in an outdoor location to paint ‘en plein air’ (‘in the open air’). Each year TRAS also organises a trip further afield at members’ own expense. Previous locations include Woodleigh Station, Lucinda, and Cape Tribulation. These outings are a great opportunity to get to know your fellow artists and gain creative inspiration in a beautiful location.

TRAS is run by a small group of volunteers who are dedicated to providing opportunities to explore and develop creativity in the Tablelands community. We invite members to take a role on the TRAS committee or assist with events. No special skills are needed, and support is provided. If you love art and can spare a little time each month to help run our local Art Society, please get in touch.

An annual TRAS Group Exhibition is held at either the Old Post Office Gallery or the Tablelands Regional Gallery in Atherton.
Art by TRAS members is displayed in the Foyer Gallery in Atherton at various times throughout the year.
Our popular annual Artisan Fair is held outside the Tablelands Regional Gallery (due to Covid, this has not been held for the last few years).
